One thing that really turns my stomach is support today’s businesses provide, err, fail to provide. Take our “Do No Evil” friends at mail.google.com.
Today I happen to start getting these virus notifications from my virus protection software when I would open an email inside my GMAIL window (as seen in the below video) and wanted to report them to Google. So like any good minded community user I searched and searched for a link to report the issue to Google. Now, I admit that I have little patience to look through pages upon pages of FAQs (frequently asked questions) to find a link to GMAIL support, if it exist.
I just wanted to report something that their email service should be filtering. There’s no telling how many users are going to get a nasty virus if they aren’t properly protected.
Now, if I were an A-list blogger like Robert Scoble and reported in my blog something like this, how long do you think it would take before someone at Google got back to me to either tell me they solved the problem or I was out of my mind?
And I’m not the only person to have a hard time finding Google support. It seems like Charles over at Sproutit had his fill of Google’s support model and he really needed help.
Now I know support cost money and yes, this is a free service. I guess all I’m asking for is an link to an email address that I can easily find so I can report an issue. Right now I’m not so impressed with Google’s attention to details.
