Remember Steve Austin? He was an astronaut conducting a test run when his test vehicle crashed. Well, the government didn’t simply patch him up and send him home. They implanted bionic arm, legs and an eye and all for the super low price of six million dollars. Hence, the name of the show The Six Million Dollar Man.
Well, I came across a CNN article about real bionic research and I can guarantee you that it cost way more than the adjusted for inflation 22 million dollars that The Six Million Dollar Man would cost to build today.
It is really great seeing science-fiction turn into real science and reality. Although sometimes it takes science longer to catch up to fiction, it is catching up!
